Here's what is budgeted for each scholarship in Kambia District.

 

A scholarship provides:

  • 375,500 Leones: Admission fees (about $50 USD)
  • 600,000 Leones: Eight text books, for all years of high school (about $80 USD)
  • 175,000 Leones: Scientific calculator and geometry set (about $25 USD) 
  • 150,000 Leones: Solar light for night home studies (about $20 USD)
  •   70,000 Leones: Practice exercise books and pens (about $9 USD)
  •   85,000 Leones: School uniforms (about $11 USD)

Total: 1,455,500 Leones per child (about $200 USD)

 

We also support Abass (our local program manager) with funds to travel to obtain materials and pay school fees on behalf of our scholarship recipients. A small emergency fund is maintained in case unexpected emergencies arise in our scholars' families that could jeopardize their studies or schooling.
